Unlimited fishing is available from dawn to dusk and prime fishing areas are a short 5 minutes from the Lodge. In beautiful Caamano Sound the protected waters of this wilderness area produce massive runs of Chinook (Kings) until the end of July. The spawning runs of Coho (Silver) arrive by mid June. In addition to trophy salmon, the area boasts an abundance of Halibut, LingCod and Red Snapper.
By early July, the large runs of salmon have begun to move southward and St.John's lodge moves with them to Milbanke Sound located 80 miles south of Caamano. Here you will find all five species of salmon plus Halibut, Red Snapper and LingCod. Each year, anglers boat Chinook weighing over sixty pounds. Many of our guests become members of St.John's Tyee Club by boating a Chinook weighing 30 pounds or more and receive the coveted Red Cap.
Once you have boated a fish and attached your fish number, St. John's dock crew takes over. Your daily catch is weighed, professionally cleaned, vacuum-sealed and flash frozen, ready for your BBQ. When you leave for home, your fish is packed in a styrofoam lined waxed cardboard container to ensure that it arrives cold and fresh at your destination. At St.John's two experienced Fish masters are on water at all times. Orientation is provided from the Fish masters on fishing techniques, boat handling and safety.
St. John's Lodge features spacious staterooms complete with private bathrooms, showers and daily maid service. The dining room, lounge and bar is surrounded by a panoramic view of the fishing grounds. While you are resting and relaxing between meals, St.John's coffee lounge is always well stocked with pastries and snacks for your convenience.
