About Us:

Mount Carmel Safaris is a full service guest farm located in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. Mount Carmel Safaris is owned and operated by Andries and Debby van Zyl, who are both qualified professional hunters and tour guides. Their family approach to both hunting and non-hunting guests is tailored to produce an unforgettable African experience in a "home away from home" atmosphere.

What makes us unique:

The hunting opportunities in the Northern Cape Province are some of the finest on the continent with a wide variety of plainsgame available. Trophy hunts can be conducted with the client's choice of weapons: rifle, muzzle loader, archery, or handgun. Hunt options also include non-lethal darting. We had the great pleasure of guiding a client for the current SCI No. 1 White Rhino in December-1999 . SCI Score 1026/8.

About our trips:

The Northern Cape Province is legendary for its vast herds of plains game, its diversity of ecological systems and striking geological structures. Standing at 2000 meters (3900 feet) elevation the high dry climate is best enjoyed between March and August. Due to its location the province enjoys virtual freedom from parasitic diseases. From our farm you will have a wide range of activities available including photographic safaris, horse back riding, hiking, cave diving, and swimming in a spectacular natural sinkhole. The sinkhole, named Boesmansgat, is the largest of its kind in world and second deepest at about 300 meters. Our game lodge is of the highest standard. Rooms are fully serviced and laundry done daily. We recommend lightweight cotton clothes in khaki or green. Full length pants and long sleeved shirts are recommended for protection from the sun and thorny brush. Sturdy comfortable hunting/hiking boots are a must. Jackets and sweaters will come in handy during the cool evenings and early mornings. Hats are recommended during the sunny days.

Our history:

Accommodation in our private ethnically-styled rooms is spacious and comfortable. Each room has a separate entrance. Rooms are fully serviced to the highest standard and laundry is done daily.
